Rhoads' Iowa St. deal is 10 years, $20M (AP)

Iowa State has released the details of its 10-year, $20 million contract extension with coach Paul Rhoads. The deal, which includes a number of incentives for Rhoads, was released Wednesday to The Associated Press. Rhoads will earn a base salary of $1.6 million, which increases by $100,000 each year starting in 2013.

Penn State dismisses freshman DE Oakman (AP)

Penn State has dismissed freshman defensive end Shawn Oakman from the football team for a violation of team rules. The school announced the dismissal Tuesday night and did not give details. Oakman, a 6-foot-9, 270-pound defensive end from The Lansdowne, sat out last season as a redshirt.

LSU hires Huskers' Raymond to coach DBs (AP)

LSU has hired Nebraska defensive backs coach Corey Raymond for the same job with the Tigers. Coach Les Miles announced Tuesday that Raymond will replace Ron Cooper, who resigned last week to take an assistant's job with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Raymond was at Nebraska for one year after coaching cornerbacks for two seasons at Utah State.

Texas A&M, Mizzou pay $24.8M to Big 12 (AP)

Texas A&M and Missouri have agreed to pay $12.4 million each to leave the Big 12 and join the Southeastern Conference in July. Former NFL cornerback Darnell Walker Sr. has been hired as an assistant coach at Tulsa, where he will be able to mentor his son. Ex-Buckeye Small arrested on drug charge (AP)

Authorities say former Ohio State football player Ray Small has been charged with drug possession in southern Ohio after a traffic stop. The State Highway Patrol says Small was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for allegedly speeding on Route 33 on Sunday. Meigs County Court officials in Pomeroy say the 24-year-old from Columbus was charged with possession of the narcotic oxycodone.
