Ohio State returned to No. 1 in The Associated Press' college basketball poll, the third straight week there was been a change at the top. The Buckeyes, who were No. 1 for four weeks before falling to second for two weeks, replaced Duke at the top of the rankings Monday. AP women's poll: UConn is No. 1, top 5 unchanged (AP)

Connecticut remains No. 1 in women's college basketball, with the first five teams in the Top 25 unchanged in the poll by The Associated Press. NCAA places Cal on probation for calls (AP)

The NCAA placed the California men's basketball program on two years probation Friday for making more than 300 impermissible recruiting phone calls. The Division I Committee on Infractions added only a few small penalties on top of what the school had already self-imposed after quickly reporting the 365 calls made shortly after coach Mike Montgomery and his staff were hired in April 2008.

Longtime Nebraska assistant Ted Gilmore is Southern California's new receivers coach. USC head coach Lane Kiffin announced the hiring Thursday. Kansas suspends PG Taylor indefinitely (AP)

No. 3 Kansas has suspended point guard Tyshawn Taylor indefinitely for violating team rules. The school did not specify the violation. Taylor has started 26 of 27 games for the Jayhawks, who were 25-2 overall and 10-2 in the Big 12 going into their game Monday night against Oklahoma State. Coach Bill Self said Taylor would continue practicing with the team until he was reinstated.
